Korean Trio Begin 2017 in Abu Dhabi

They are arguably three of Koreas brightest young prospects, with each already enjoying European Tour success in their fledgling careers. Wang followed up An’s 2015 European Tour Rookie of the Year Award, by claiming the same trophy last year. His back to back wins will be forever etched in European Tour history, as will Lees wire-to-wire Shenzen International victory last year.
However, this week’s field is one of the strongest that the European Tour will host all year. With the likes of world number two Rory McIlroy (*update- forced to withdraw due to injury), fresh off a playoff defeat at the South African Open, world number three Dustin Johnson, and number four, Henrik Stenson, alongside defending champion Rickie Fowler, the Korean trio will have to be at their very best to be in contention on Sunday afternoon.
There’s no doubt that Wang, Lee and An have the talent to move up the world rankings throughout 2017, and a strong performance this week would be the perfect catalyst for the year ahead.
