Song and KT Looking to Kickstart Their Season
This week the Japan Tour, along with the Asian Tour host the co-sanctioned Panasonic Open, just north of Tokyo. The winner will certainly have to be on top of his game, with a very strong field teeing it up at Umesato Golf Club.
There are a number of Koreans who should put in a strong performance this week, but namely Younghan Song and KT Kim, who will be hoping to pick up a victory in the early part of the new season.
Apart from his second place finish at his Singapore Open title defence, it has been a relatively slow start to 2017 for Song. Two missed cuts this year, in Myanmar and Malaysia is already one more than all of 2016, which coincidentally was at this tournament.
Song is certainly talented enough to be a multiple winner on any Tour he competes on, he is just struggling to secure the all important second title, as many professional golfers seem to experience. Maybe this week can change this…
As for KT, well his favourite time of year has arrived. If he can produce the form he did this time last year, expect to see his name on more silverware very soon.
Sungjae Im is also another one to watch this week, after another impressive (T-4th) week at the Token Homemate Cup. There will be at least one or two more Koreans near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday, but with twelve more to choose from, we’ll leave that up to you…
