JGTO: Ryu Ends Drought With Playoff Victory 

Hyun Woo Ryu came out on top in a three man playoff to claim his second Japan Tour title of his career- the other victory was back in 2012, so this was a much welcome end to a winless drought lasting over five years.

Ryu, who will turn 36 next week, has not been a prolific winner during his career, with this win being just his third. Ryu’s 2013 Maekyung Open victory will remain his career highlight, but this win will arguably taste a lot sweeter, after such a long wait. Ryu will be hoping that it’s not another four years before he wins again, which it shouldn’t be…maybe.

In addition to Ryu’s victory, it was also satisfactory week for numerous Koreans. Seong Jae Im (T-5th) and Sanghee Lee/K.T. Kim (T-7th) will take a lot of confidence from their performances and result.

Unfortunately, overnight leader Ho Sung Choi had a Sunday to forget, as he slipped back to a T-12th finish alongside the then defending champion Min Gyu Cho.
