KPGA: Seo Seals Daegu Open Win On 72nd Hole
Hyungseok Seo stood over his third shot on the par 5 18th fairway, just over 100 yards from the hole, knowing this was an opportunity to claim his maiden KPGA Tour title. Waiting greenside was the KPGA’s top player Jinho Choi, who was tied with Seo at the time.
Choi made a charge on the back nine picking up five shots, which was almost six, but his eagle putt on the last whisked just by the hole. All he could do now was wait and hope for a playoff.
Seo’s playing partner and overnight leader Goowong Choi, was also tied for the lead on the last. Choi hit his second shot into the rough, which gave Seo a tiny window of opportunity to produce something special.
Seo was up to the task, and was inches away from holing out for an eagle, but there’s no doubt that he will regard this shot as the best of his career to date. Choi missed his 30 foot birdie putt, Seo tapped his in and the rest is history…
